M. Tawhidi gave an interesting response when asked about the French people’s growing fear of Islam’s expansion in society.
“These signs (hijab, burkini, halal, street praying) are symbols of power. Praying in the street is unacceptable (…) I understand what majority of the French are fearing and I think you need a government that understand the people’s fear.
He also debunked the demagogue concept of Islamophobia, too often used on critics of Islam.
“Islamophobia doesn’t exist. If it did exist, then, we muslims would be Islamophobic. We killed the prophet’s family and we fled Muslim countries to come and live in the West. Isn’t that Islamophobia?”
